More than forty eight years ago, Rafael Arosemena together with small group of enthusiast engineers and technicians started a new ship repair company in Colon on the Atlantic side of Panama Canal, and he could hardly imagine the company´s current achievements and worldwide reputation.
Today, with its fully skilled and global trained workforce ranging from 200 to 400, and fully equipped workshops and work boats, it has become one-stop-shop for all type onboard and underwater inspections and repairs, on both sides of the Panama Canal, providing services for an average of 1200 ships annually on 24/7 basis and being ISO 9001:2000 certified.
For underwater inspections, cleaning and repairs, the company is member of American Divers Contractors and is certified by ABS, BV, DNV-GL, KR, LRS, NK, RINA, CR and RS.
Full coverage of all types of electrical and repairs, has led the company to become member of the International Ship Electrical and Engineering Service Association (ISES) in the U.K. and having our CEO, Lino Arosemena as the President of this entity.
Rental of marine type generator sets, ranging from 350 to 1,500 kW is another service that was introduced with full success, and in line with a constantly growing demand.
Further range of services also includes steel, and mechanical repairs to the highest standards, matching all customers and Classification societies' requirements.
Lifeboats and davits inspections are carried out under certifications obtained by Hyundai, Bada, Nishi, Greben, Ned-Deck, Palfinger and Oriental Precision.
We are offering full range of LSA and FF equipment inspections and certifications, also performing cranes´ load tests with live weights up to 200 tons and calibration and repairs of all types of instruments.

Broadening the range of services and its positive outcome resulted in expanding the company´s services across the countries in the region, providing services to vessels at 24 hour notice, throughout Latin America and the Caribbean subject to type of service. In the year 2005 this dedication resulted in underwater steel repairs on a grounded vessel at Callao, Peru, where 80 tons of steel were prefabricated and installed on the flat bottom of the vessel with 22 meters draft. This year was once again extremely busy and successful for the Talleres, due to its reputation gained with great number of frequent and new clients repeat who have also discovered the advantages, and amenities that Panama as a country, offers to the ship Owners (repair services, handling of spares, bond storage etc.), as well as being the biggest transshipment hub in Central and South America.
